Awake.

Well good morning sports fans.

So yesterday I did what every twenty something must do: I moved out of my parents' house and into my own bedroom. It's a lovely one-bedroom just opposite of Gilead church, very close to both the water and "downtown" Carmel.

This probably does not explain why I am up at 4 AM when it's not a drill weekend. Let's review, shall we?

1. I generally sleep like a rock.
2. I was dead tired after moving yesterday.
3. I rarely have trouble sleeping in strange or new places.

So what has me up at this hour? Could have been the heat. The heater is pretty generous here, so I had to get up and turn it town. Naturally this had to be accompanied by a big glass of water and a trip to my bathroom.

Ah, the bathroom.

It's blue. Very, very blue. With a little brown, since I decided that my shower curtain should break up the monotony of the room. And tiny little square patterns, since I enjoy those.

But I digress.

I am awake. I mean, seriously, stark awake, and typing away. Sunrise is pretty soon, and I'm considering taking my folding chair and a cup of coffee down to the lake to watch it on the ice. Or I could unpack a little more, but my neighbors probably wouldn't appreciate the noise. I'd read, but all of my books are still boxed up because I couldn't find a clever way of getting my shelves up the tight staircase in my building. Right angle turns going up stairs are the mover's worst enemy.

When do grocery stores open up, anyways? I have some bare, bare essentials in the house right now, like flour and sugar and coffee, but nothing really substantial to eat. It also doesn't help that my propane won't be turned on till Monday morning, so I'm shit out of luck. My microwave is pretty crappy, and looking at my budget I'm not entirely sure if I would want to go and buy a new one today or not. But take a look at my first shopping list:

Garlic
Onions
Potatoes
Salt
Pepper
Butter
Pasta Sauce
Hot Sausage
Eggs
Chicken Cutlets
Bread Crumbs
Parmesan Cheese
Corn Meal
Lettuce
Carrots
Beans
Frozen Corn
Leeks
Milk
Bread
Rice
Baking Soda
Baking Powder
Ground Beef
Ramen Noodles (noodle bricks, not cup noodle)
Oyster Sauce

I already have pasta a few other sundries in the house, including peanut butter and jelly. I just lacked the bread. Maybe I'll go in search of a coffee table at the mall today instead of a microwave. And maybe I'll look at Kohl's on the way there, since they might be cheaper in there.

Well, a half hour of streaming consciousness is enough for now.

Bored. Ugh. Agitated, too. Not sure why.

Sundays.

There is a certain zen to Sundays. It's that magical, short period of time where you forget about Saturday and it hasn't quite clicked that you have to go work on Monday. Just think, what do you do on Sunday?

I'll give you a moment.

I try to relax in my chores. Laundry, ironing, and shining shoes kills a whole afternoon for me. It's my time for music at the ironing board and maybe seeing a movie while putting some polish on my shoes. Oh, the simple things.

Beginnings.

No more journals for this Apronboy, Live or Dead. I do believe I am trendy enough to begin blogging.

*waves at the blogosphere*

I've been encouraged by a few people in the past year or so to start taking photos so I have an easier time remembering where I've been and what I've done. Then it occurs to me, why not jot down a sentence or two about what's going on? Paper will always be the best of listeners; silent and non-judgmental.

This past week was a major milestone for me. I started my first full time job, working as an analyst at a pharmaceutical company. After some training, I'll be an analyst and report writer dealing primarily with the pharmacokinetic results of clinical trials. Neat trick for a math major with no biochem background, huh?

For my next trick, I shall acquire an apartment.
